Choose a Volunteer Placement

The cornerstone of a successful volunteer placement is ensuring a good match between a volunteer's skills and expectations and an organization's needs.

This begins with volunteers reading through several volunteer placement descriptions on our website to get a feeling for the type of work and organizations that they are most interested in. Some volunteers find it useful to call our Program Consultants, at this point, to discuss placement options. Others prefer to connect directly with our Placement Coordinators overseas for their input.

In order to complete an application volunteers must choose a country and a volunteer placement category. Once the application is complete, volunteers have access to an intranet where they can view their specific volunteer placement options that our Program Coordinator recommends.  Volunteers can review these volunteer placements and work with the coordinator, asking questions and narrowing down their selection  to their first, second and third choices.

Once the volunteer placement preferences have been selected and the volunteer has registered for the program, our Placement Coordinator provides a detailed volunteer profile to each of these organizations so that the organizations are able to review the background of the volunteer and decide if they agree that the volunteer is a good candidate to meet their needs.

The coordinator will confirm the final volunteer placement selection to the volunteer not later than 30-days before the program start date.
