Library & Literacy Volunteer

Many literacy volunteering participants will work in a library. At the library, volunteers can expect to read to children and lead educational activities, show visitors how to find and take out books, and help to organize the library, if or when necessary.

A library volunteer can explain the many benefits of being able to read plus the enjoyable, entertaining aspects obtained through books. Through the promotion of literacy, volunteers are not only able to educate and help to provide a greater chance of employment to individuals, but can help instill a greater sense of confidence in others.

Literacy is of primary importance to success, and through these library volunteer placements help can be given to ensure that local residents are able to continue their literacy education.
