Social Volunteering
Social volunteering positions provide a multitude of fascinating and rewarding experiences that give the social volunteer the chance to make a difference, while having an valuable learning experience. Opportunities in this category may entail anything from working as a psychologist, social worker, art therapist, or addictions counsellor.
Social volunteering in this field may consist of working with vulnerable populations, such as marginalized women or abused children. For this reason, volunteers in this field will require a great deal of maturity and compassion.
While some of these social volunteer positions suggest that volunteers must be professionals, it is often not the case. Volunteers who have limited to no experience, will work as an assistant to a professional at their host organization.
