We have done this by setting-up our own dedicated training centers in each country instead of outsourcing these core services to third-part providers.
Extensive Orientation and Training
The BaseCamp 7-Day, volunteer abroad orientation and training is included in the registration fee. This intensive course prepares volunteers with training on using local transportation, bargaining and the market, meal etiquette, culture shock, political history, current events, basic language training, individual placement consultation and work plan review, health and safety training and detailed information about our emergency procedures. This training is critical to ensure a smooth transition for international volunteers from their lives at home to living with a homestay family and interacting with their co-workers at their placement.
Extensive Vetting Process
We provide each volunteer with a dedicated Program Consultant. Volunteers have access to very detailed placement information for multiple potential placements long before going overseas. This allows our volunteers to actively choose which organization they are most interested in supporting and ensures that the job requirements of the position fit well with the interests, skills and background of our volunteers.
Team of Staff In-Country
We have a team of staff on the ground in each country that includes regional representatives, administrators, program coordinators, language teachers, cooks and cleaners. Not only does this mean that the majority of your volunteer abroad program fees create lasting employment for people overseas, but you can be confident that there are many staff available to provide support when you need it.

Advanced Communication With Overseas Staff
As soon as volunteers apply they are put in contact with the program staff overseas and are encouraged to work closely with that team. Therefore all questions regarding volunteer abroad placements available to volunteers, that have not already been addressed, can be answered directly by the staff involved. By the time the volunteers arrive in the country choosen they will have already developed a relationship with the in-country staff helping to make the transition to a new environment easier.
